If conservatives were able to distinguish between news reporting and punditry, would Fox News still be popular?

Yes. Primarily because plenty of people CAN distinguish between news programs and commentary programs. This is why people trust Fox News, despite people claims that the news is biased. Of course it is the complainers that actually can't tell that they are seeing bias in the editorials, not the News.
