Bare Essentials for a Newborn?

My husband and I are expecting our first in June and I'm so tired of being bombarded with what seem like the most unnecessary baby products. People have been raising children just fine for thousands of years without filling their homes with clunky, tacky plastic hordes. That said I'm just wondering what products (furniture, accessories, cosmetics) are absolute musts. Thanks so much.
