Why is bashing and criticizing Christianity acceptable in the western world?

Because Christians spend big money to put their beliefs out on the public air waves, on billboards, bus shelters and everywhere else they can think of - doesn't that make them a natural target? Constant Christian proselytizing turns a lot of people off. You can't even take a drive in the countryside without seeing a billboard telling you about the wages of sin. I don't hate anyone but I can thoroughly understand why people get very ticked off. I pay for cable TV and get several channels of propaganda that I do not want-that's the power Christians exercise over me. Those who use their power in ways that irritate others make themselves the target of legitimate criticism.
